Q. Can I Adopt a Penguin for a Christmas present?
A. You can definitely Adopt a Penguin for Christmas! As this is a busy time for us you will need to arrange this early so that you will receive it on time. All adoptions received by Monday 15th December will be sent, If you adopt after this date there is no guarantee that it will arrive on time.
Q. Where is my money going?
A. Research projects are proposed to us and a decision is based upon the merit of the project topic and benefit it will give the Little Penguins.
Q. What is the quickest way to Adopt a Penguin?
A. The easiest and quickest way to become a member of the Penguin Foundation is to do the process online. If you do chose to send a cheque in it will take a little longer.
Q. Who do I write my cheque out to for my donation?
A. All cheques must be addressed to the Penguin Foundation and send it to Reply Paid 9999, Cowes, Victoria, Australia 3922.
Q. Can I have specific information about my adopted penguin?
A. The penguin colony at Phillip Island consists of around 60,000 penguins so it is incredibly difficult to keep track of a specific penguin. We give general updates about the entire colony.
Q. Do I get a renewal reminder when my one year membership is up?
A. Yes you will receive an email letting you know that your membership is about to expire. Renewing your membership is an easy process on our website.
Q. Can I name my penguin?
A. Yes you can name your penguin and this information will be kept in your records. We currently have some named Wally, Piccaninny, Percy and George.
Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, we have a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and all contributions are fully tax deductible. Please keep your receipt for tax purposes as we may not be able to reissue one.
Q. When is the Members Open Day?
A. The Open Day is an annual event that Penguin Foundation Members are invited to. This is usually scheduled at the start of the year and an invitation will be sent out for the next one.
Q. Can I adopt a Phillip Island Penguin even though I live overseas?
A. Of course! We currently have adoptions from around the world such as Alaska, Hungary and Ireland!
Q. What do I do when I change my address?
A. Please contact us asap so that we can update your records, we wouldn’t want you missing out on any information! Please do this for both your mailing and email addresses.
Q. I haven’t received a newsletter in a while?
A. Our Member Update e-newsletters are sent out quarterly. If you haven’t received one in a while please keep an eye on your inbox!
